Chapter Eighteen

      Only because of Jax, was she still there.

      All things considered, she'd rather be flat on her back in bed. Immediately, she regretted that thought, as past images of just what oftentimes took place when she was in said position flooded her mind. Try though she might, she could not prevent the brazen smile that danced across her face as she thought of him.

      Then just as quickly, the memories were gone. It was better that way. Much like they were when apart. Together? They were great. For awhile. Then they'd almost always fall into the same trap. She thought he didn't give enough; he thought she wanted him to give too much. Or maybe it was the other way around? It had only been five years, but it seemed like a lifetime ago. Perhaps if they were both the people then they were now, maybe they'd still be…

      Sabrina pushed all thoughts of 'what if' regarding her ex-husband aside and gave her complete attention to the moment at hand. A light tap on the shoulder diverted her attention from the stage.

      "Yes?" she called out, her gaze still trained towards the stage.

      "Looks like they'll let anyone--"

      Although the person was yelling, she could barely make out what was being said. When it became apparent she would not be left alone, an impatient Sabrina spun around to address the irritating party.

      And found herself face to face with her ex-husband.
