Opposites Attract

Chapter 5: Breathless

A pair of piercing eyes that seemed to go from blue to hazel had her rooted to the floor. Or was it the husky growl of a voice that flowed past the young man's shapely full lips that seemed to steal her very breath? All this was set against a smooth caramel colored complexion that only served to emphasize his striking cheekbones. Sabrina could easily rattle off at least a half dozen photographers who would all but sell the souls of their firstborns to capture his amazing visage on film.

"Hello," Sabrina nodded.

Ever observant, she realized she'd seen the handsome man around the hospital before. If memory served her correctly, he was a part of the construction crew that was renovating the offices on her floor. She nodded towards the makeshift map he held.

"You look a bit lost. Need some help?"

"Sorry." The faint, rhythmic bobbing of his head ceased as he smoothly slipped the headphones along the contours of immaculate cornrows. "What was that?" Sabrina repeated the question. "Yeah." He closed the space between them, extending the sheet of paper. "I'm tryin' to find this office but I've been up and down every floor in this hospital, and unless there's a hidden panel somewhere, this room doesn't exist."

It was only years of training - amassed both among her family, the Cassadines, and as a physician - that prevented Sabrina from registering any trace of emotion when his hand lightly grazed hers. It didn't help matters at all that a fierce ripple of electricity seemed to surge through her body as she inhaled his scent, a mixture of a spicy cologne tinged with the faint residue of sweat.

She didn't even want to imagine tiny rivulets of moisture snaking a trail along his delectable frame - a frame whose sheer perfection the white cotton tank top and loosely fitting jeans only served to magnify - be it the flat, firm planes of his perfectly chiseled abs or the broad expanse of his shoulders and back…..

Regaining her composure, Sabrina returned to the task at hand and reviewed the map. She perused it for a few moments, her brows furrowing every so often before she realized the problem.

"Actually, you're in the right place," she pointed to the diagram, "they just have it labeled wrong. The office you're trying to find is mine."
