Chapter Twenty-One
While the crowd seemed to eat up Carly's behavior, Jax was incensed. He couldn't believe Carly had forgotten the most important rule in business: Appearance Is Everything.
He didn't even want to entertain what potential contacts were thinking after her stunt. Realizing damage control was a must and that it had to be done as swiftly as possible, Jax deftly took the microphone from Carly. He'd planned to make the announcement later in the week, but the present situation dictated otherwise.
"You know, folks," he announced, "this is my partner's night. But I'm feeling pretty excited myself. I mean, now that I think of it, what better place to be to celebrate my news than here? What news?" he yelled back. "Well, I don't know if you'd be interested in anything going on with me…" Jax hemmed.
"Okay! I'll share." His dazzling aquamarine eyes seemed to darken to a hue that defied description as his eyes found the source of his revelation. "Well, where do I begin?" he teased. "Tell ya what. Why don't I let her do the talking, huh? Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the love of my life. My wife."
Offering up the trademark Jacks grin, his next words were tinged with awe as he spoke her name.
