Pale Imitations

Chapter Five

"Yes," Stefan Cassadine concurred as he held out her chair, "young Caroline seems to have found her niche. Finally."

Taking a seat across from Bobbie, Stefan pensively stroked his chin as he studied his ex-wife. Their current relationship was a strange one. Both his sons adored her; granted, Nikolas did so more than Andresj'. Nevertheless, he did not take for granted her presence in their lives. It was her current presence in his life that Stefan was having some degree of difficulty with. He would be forever grateful to Bobbie for the friendship she'd formed with Andresj'. And there were no words to seemingly do justice to the immense gratitude he felt towards Bobbie for being able to get Nikolas to listen to reason regarding that Gia creature.

      Yes, he was thankful.

But mere gratitude alone was nowhere near a substantial enough reason to reunite. Granted, the sex was good. Far more satisfying for Bobbie than him, if truth be told. But Stefan was a generous lover and selfless enough, secure enough in himself to derive pleasure from her receiving pleasure.

And still, he could not ignore the feeling that something was missing, as if there was something he just couldn't recapture with Bobbie. Quite possibly because they never had it? Perhaps it was…

Stefan had no time to ponder the state of things between him and Bobbie as the woman of the hour suddenly bounded into their midst.
